interforum: Filmtalk / Filmtalk Canada - Kanadischer Kurzfilm im Rampenlicht

To accompany the five 'Focus on: Canada' short film programs, interforum will hold an in-depth film talk about short filmmaking in Canada. Canadian filmmakers and experts will not only discuss their films but also the challenges and opportunities they encounter on their home turf as well as the inspiration they draw from.

The abundance of outstanding Canadian short films and vibrancy of the scene, from edgy independent films to big budget productions, promises to make for a lively film talk alone – but the Canadian talent of storytelling begs to be discussed too. Shorts from Canada often have extraordinarily bold and original narratives that succeed at moving audiences while conveying a unique spirit and atmosphere. Their stories exude urgency, tackling socially sensitive issues with incomparable fearlessness – free of cliches and often embracing the art of cinema. The Focus on Canada section aims to make the distinctiveness of Canadian filmmaking tangible, both on screen and in discussion with the public.

The film talk will be held in English and moderated by Emily Smith.
