Gute Nacht, du falsche Welt

Adieu in four scenes by Puschkin, Schikaneder and Troike

First: Four seconds before the accident, a driving car, four passengers and a tree – bang – two dead, one of them a poet. What is the secret of the last seconds of their lives? Second: A city struck by the plague: The nobles are celebrating their demise, while piles of corpses are carted away behind them – a farewell to the decadence of a culture. Joy is victorious even in death. Third: Salieri begrudges Mozart his genius; by poisoning his friend he believes he can relieve himself of his torment. Fourth: Papageno, the merry birdcatcher, prototype of a displacer, who suppresses the pain of his solitude, tries to deliver from his pain on the next tree.

Exemplary scenes, which tell about life, about ups and downs and the freedom from death. About the eternity of four seconds, the reflection of the world without judgement, without ethics. Where are hope, liberation or resolutions in the play? In the confidence in the inventive abilities of theatre, the playful and in the present nesting in the scenes, making the non-experienceable experienceable. In the belief that neither god nor humans have everything in their grip. This is the warrantor for the cheerful in all of us.

A model of theatre, which banks on the simple and the plain in its means, in the interplay of image, noise, music and magic. In its devotion to melancholy and salvation.
