the exceptionally talented playwright Sarah Kane and committed
suicide at the age of 28. With great poetical force, 4:48 PSYCHOSIS revolves around the thoughts of a depressive and suicidal mind. 4:48 is the predicted time of death. The feeling that body and soul are divided and will never again be united as a complete person is a recurrent theme. In this condition, perhaps, suicide is a relief. This performance became Trine Dyrholm‘s great breakthrough as a character actor, who in Thomas Vinterberg‘s »The Celebration« became known to a wider audience. With an enormous physical and mental presence she achieved a pure and unsentimental defence of the split mind, its inclination towards suicide and, at the same time, its hope of somehow avoiding it.
