With Kristín Anna Valtýsdóttir, Halldór Laxness Halldórsson, Kjartansson and songs by Kjartan Sveinsson, interpreted by Tora Augestad and a string quartet
Last year Ragnar Kjartansson founded his record label Bel-Air Glamour Records together with the English The Vinyl Factory. On this label he wants, amongst others, to present artists who composed music for his installations, as well as other artists "from his immediate neighborhood" which is a bit more clear in Iceland, partly even more talented than in many other countries.
The Icelandic musician Kristín Anna Valtýsdóttir (formerly of múm) has just released HOWL, her first album on Bel-Air Glamour Records. "Satanic, feminine ambient music", which was recorded in psychedelic ecstasy in California’s Mojave Desert. On this evening, she will perform solo on the piano.
The grandson of the famous Icelandic writer Halldór Laxness, 1955 awarded with the Nobel Prize in literature, Halldór Laxness Halldorsson created a stir in Iceland as a rapper with his stage name "I am the greatest" and his show "The Icelandic center". At Volksbühne he will present his poetry.
And Kjartan Sveinsson, one of the great Icelandic rock stars, composers and former member of Sigur Rós presents new works for a string quartet (Torsten Scholz, Dagmar Quies, Andreas Quade, Werner terminal) and a voice: The famous Norwegian singer Tora Augestad will interpret his songs that night.
